2018 Language Recap

2018 was a big year for me when it came to languages. I stepped up my game in some unexpected areas, and finally started working on braille to supplement my failing sight. Here’s a recap of some highlights and numbers. Warning: Any audio you encounter WILL be full of errors. Because that’s what happens when you learn.

Top 3 languages for 2018 (per time studied):

Slovene (22h)

*Consolation prizes go to Russian, Korean, and Mandarin. I only seem to want to play with you when I’m home sick with nothing else to do.

Most progress:

  • Estonian

  • Korean (21.5h) 마침내 우리는 어딘가로 가고 있습니다.

  • Slovene Ker ga moram enkrat uporabiti.

Still needs work:

  • Russian Ничего нового. Аппети́т прихо́дит во вре́мя еды́.

Honourable mention:

  • Dutch (12h)

  • Turkish (6.3h)

  • Norweigan (5h)

Also used as needed: Portuguese, Tunisian Arabic, Swedish, Danish

And, that’s a wrap. Let’s see where it all goes for 2019. I’ll be hitting up the Polyglot Gathering (wherever it may be), LangFest in Montréal, and tentatively will be making my way home to Japan for the Polyglot Conference n Fukuoka in October.
